First 'game' of the season
11 Jun 2015 by Hector Millar
This evening the latest incarnation of The All Uni Rejects was scheduled to make their 2015 debut in the Cheltenham league. With the senior players deciding on the new monica 'A Murder on Zidanes Floor' for the Stroud Monday league but also the Cheltenham Tuesday and Thursday leagues, ditching the famous 'Kings of Leon Osman' and previous 'Britains Next Top Hoddle', they thought. So with a strong team they turned up for the 8pm match: Swift Kick in the Grass v Murder on Zidanes Floor. Problems began to arise when 3 teams starting warming up on pitch 2. Striding towards the referee to stake our claim on the pitch, he asked our name. When we responsed 'Murder on Zidanes Floor' this was greeted with laughter and derision from another team on the pitch - this was also 'Murder on Zidanes Floor'. Cue panic and fear. Further investigation revealed, unbeknownst to our leadership our team name had been automatically reverted back to 'Britains Next Top Hoddle' due to the clash of names and we had missed our actual game at 7 and attempts to hijack the 'real' 'Murder on Zidanes Floor's match unsurprisingly failed. Treachery from the system. Scammed by the organisers. Traitorous bastards the lot of them. A huge disappointment for all - special apologies must go to Ashton who made the trip from Birmingham. Fantastic commitment (Lowe and Hart take notes). So unfortunately our season will (re)start on Monday in Stroud after this abysmal evening.
