The first of our two games last night was a disappointing affair. A game that provided virtually no challenge to us and our players were questioning the merit of even playing out the full game.
Despite this we found ourselves behind twice in the opening exchanges thanks to some dodgy and some even more dodgy keeping for their second and final goal.
There were some highlights from this game though. Charlie Hart on his return scored a couple of phenomenal individual goals. Ashton Gardner's powerful finishing for 5 goals and the long awaited first headed goal of the season scored by Will Priest.
The second game was the polar opposite. In a rematch from a couple of weeks back against Premier League leaders British Beef. Against all the odds we had the better of the opening chances and it remained goalless for a considerable amount of time.
But it came as no surprise when we were finally broken down and their authoritative finishing was a feature throughout the game. We had our moments throughout the game and 2 first half goals from Hart just about kept us in the contest but at 5-2 down at the interval it would've taken an extraordinary effort to pull it back.
Despite the final score being similar to when we first played them as the game ended 10-3 (I think), I felt that this time we matched up to them a better and it was in the balance for a lot longer this time.
Also as a side note, we wrapped up the league title due to the lack of attendances of others in the league so we will have some silverware to remember our travails this summer by and with the end of season awards ceremony imminent it should conclude what has been an emotional and eventful season.
